Burlington’s Municipal Service District
What’s the Burlington MSD?
North Carolina General Statutes allow cities to create Municipal Service Districts. The Municipal Service District (MSD) designation provides an equitable method for funding special improvements to public right-of-way areas because property owners share in the cost through taxes.
The Municipal Services District (MSD) makes up the 16 blocks in Downtown Burlington serviced by the Burlington Downtown Corporation, 501(c)3. The MSD is bordered by Webb Ave, S. Lexington Ave, W. Morehead St and S. Church Street.
The BDC provides programming, promotes businesses, and supports property owners in this district.
